November Uprising (1830-1831) Battle of Olszynka Grochowska - 54mm
For a long time I've been planning sculpting 54mm scale models based on
historical characters because I don't static poses of models availavle
nowdays at miniatures market.
I was inspired by Wojciecha Kossak's painting "Olszynka grochowska"
presenting one of battles from November Uprising period which was taking
place on 24-25 February 1831. I presented hire some photos of this painting
and sketches made by W. Kossak.
As you can see the painter creater very realistic vision of soliders:
some of them are wearing bandages, one has just got shot!
In reality during that battle about 8.000 polish soliders gathered in
small wood were repulsing all day long atacks of russian troops: over
45.000 infantry and about 13.000cavalry.
I really like such convention of presenting historical models because it
shows true history and dramatism of those events. I want to sculpt the
vignette with fallen tree which will fit the scene and which will be the
base to some requisites like falling rifle or equipment drowning in snow.
Models you can see are only wip stage - I changed many elements of
uniforms and equipment after getting more informations about the XIX
century age, like printings, ilustrations and historical knowledge.
I'd also like to give my best regards to my friends from www.figurki.org
forum for great and definitely priceless help
in reconstructing uniforms details.
