Moscals - Invasion from the East
Recently we've been wondering about releasing sth more ambitious than just
sets of fantasy models. We are also big fans of corrupted fantasy
creatures so the decision was made:
we will release our version of evil and depraved dwarfs.
This is a presentation of a current concept and sculpting works on Moscals horde.
We deeply hope to make this army the first step on a path to create a game system.
In coming weeks and months we plan to release more models of depraved dwarfs and develop vision of game's world and game's mechanics.
The overall idea of Moscals was based on some historical events and
characters - mostly on the history of Russia.
Many elements of clothes and armours are modified historical clothing or
architecture from XV-XVII century Russia: Boyars hats are cupolas of
Orthodox Church towers, Strialoks' hats and coats are based of historical
MoscowRiflemen and riff raffs are based on Cossack and peasant rebels from
XVII century revolts in Ukraine.

In the sketches and greens below you can see current stage of works - more
will be revealed soon.
You can also read a short introduction to the Moscal world - enjoy!

On the eastern borders of Known World lies the land known only though tales of the bravest adventurers and merchants.
Most creatures which travel to that land never return, because they
get captured as slaves by raiders during dreadful looting expeditions.
Troops responsible for these invasions are called Moscals in Known World
and their cursed land extending from eastern borders to the horizon is
Moskaroth, with the capital fortress-city Elblagaard. Moskaroth is
inhabited by numerous nations and races conquered or draged east during centuries by the rulers of Elblagaard.
The race of Moscals resembles in build and hight dwarfs living in Known World.
Many sages state that they are just dwarfs that fell into
degeneration and depravation a long time ago because of powerful source of
chaos magic buried in the deepest  mine shafts under Elblagaard. But
Moscals are just a very small part of the Moskaroth's population - they
belong to the caste of masters and they are at the top of social hierarchy.
Whole regular troops, monks and priests of underground gods are
recruited from Moscals. Moskaroth's nobility is called Boyars - they
form the chosen cadre and elite guard of Elblagaard's master. The
current ruler of Elblagaard is Tzar Ivan the Terrifying who constantly
keeps trying to conquer all lands known to Moscals and unify them
under his undisputable command.
The Lords of Elblagaard come from a dynasty tormented by ruthless struggle forthe throne.
Tzar's court is the place of unceasing machinations of the
priests of chaos and merciless massacres of Boyars being suspected by Ivan of plotting against him.
All Tzar's subjects are frightened of his anger, suspiciousness and
vengance that neither nobility, titles nor wealth can save. The only
true law is Tzar's will and his unquestionable command. His one word is
more than enough to seal the fate of anyone in Moskaroth. In fact in
that cursed land fear of the Lord is even greater than fear of death,
Therefore countless slaves tremble with terror of Moscals and Boyars.
Slaves are the backbone of Moskaroth's economy. These poor creatures live
and die in endless mine tunnels, produce weapons and food for Moskals.
Religion:
Moscal beliefs are based on the ancient chaos magic and numerous symbols,
signs and omens which determine the start of another campaign. The caste
of priests has monopoly over production of enchanted brew - Horylka, which
ich based on very strong alcohol. This potion is the fuel for Moskals
during conflicts. After declaration of a new campaign all Elblagaard's
citizens drink tremendous amounts of Horylka wasting all their wealth on
the potion
in order to get rid of the fear before the fight and suspecting that they
will not need their wealth when they die fighting
and on the other  hand if they survived they would come back from the fight better off.
Although native Moscals, Boyars and even the Tzar himself have access to
the brew everyday, for masses of slaves a forthcoming campaign is the only
opportunity to taste Horylka and feel it's magic influence on the body and mind.
Army:
Moskal army in short periods between pillage raids consists only of
pure-blooded Moscals. The base elite formation are Boyars - well trained
and armed heavy infantry. Another formation are Srieloks - they are
armoured shooters armed with huge rifles called Samopals. There are also
other specialized formations recruited only from native Moscals: gunners,
warmachines' operators and heavy Boyar cavalry riding fast and extremly
bloodthirsty snails.
But when war is declared Moscal army is joined by countless hordes of
slaves from many nations and races which drunk with Horylka and terrified
by Boyars and Tzar's anger are a devastating force on the battlefield.
